24A Soft X-ray Tomography

Endstations Description

Soft X-ray tomography is dedicated to image frozen-hydrated bioloical specimen. The endstation integrates an on-line fluorescence structured illumination microscopy (SIM) and soft X-ray tomography (SXT) to provide biological specimen with 3D functional and structural information. The spatial resolution of SXT is 15∼30 nm for 2D imaging and 50 nm for 3D tomography, which can fill the gap between fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy in cellular studies. Because of the high penetration of soft X-ray,  the thickness of bio-sample can be imaged directly by SXT to about 8 μm at 520 eV and to 30 μm at 2,600 eV without the need of staining and sectioning.

Note:

  1. SIM is not open to user yet.
  2. Endstation is only open to use material samples or BSL-1 bioloical specimens.
